Our family
Illuminato Prestipino started the business in 1977, alongside his wife Concettina Prestipino. Together they worked tirelessly to grow the store into what it is today.
Amato’s Liquor Mart began in 1977 on Henry Street, Leichhardt — a small shop where locals loved to shop and prices stayed fair.
Illuminato and Concettina raised four children in the business; those children have since taken the reins with their spouses, carrying the same values forward.
Twenty-seven years ago we moved from Henry Street to Norton Street, Leichhardt. Today we trade from Shop 2, 267–277 Norton Street, Leichhardt NSW 2040 — still sharing stories with long-time regulars and new faces alike. Opening hours are below.
Today we are in the third generation of family ownership, still dedicated to giving our customers the best experience in everything we do — from the shop floor to events like our wine dinners.
What we do
We pride ourselves on customer service. We specialise in Italian wines and spirits and craft beers, while also offering a large range of European wine, Australian and New Zealand wines, plus spirits and beers from around the world. Our food section has grown strongly and continues to grow.
Wine Dinner Series
Wine Dinner Series is one part of what we offer at Amato’s Liquor Mart — alongside our retail store, food section, range of wines and spirits, and everything else described above. This ticketing page exists only for booking seats at our seasonal wine dinners.
These ticketed evenings are curated around a region or theme, with full menus (food and beverages) shown before you book and dietary notes captured per event. Browse Home to reserve seats; checkout collects your details once, with card or direct deposit where offered.
